HBO is developing a new limited series adaptation of The Perfect Nanny, with Nicole Kidman and Maya Erskine attached as both stars and executive producers. Based on the best-selling novel by Leïla Slimani, the story delves into a chilling psychological thriller that examines themes of trust, obsession, and hidden darkness within everyday life.

Maya Erskine, known for co-creating the acclaimed comedy Pen15, is set to adapt the novel for television. Her involvement ensures a fresh perspective in bringing Slimani’s tense and unsettling narrative to the screen. Kidman, who has built a reputation for leading acclaimed TV projects such as Big Little Lies and The Undoing, will bring her signature depth to the series.

The Perfect Nanny follows a family’s seemingly perfect childcare arrangement that gradually descends into a disturbing and suspenseful situation. With its international recognition and gripping plot, the novel has already captivated readers worldwide, making this adaptation one of HBO’s most anticipated upcoming projects.

Supported by Legendary Entertainment, the series combines strong source material with powerhouse talent, promising an edge-of-your-seat drama that explores how the ordinary can turn into the extraordinary — and terrifying.
